Course description:
Conversation: The student will interact in a simple way:
- Will ask and answer simple questions about themselves, where they live, people they know, and things they have.
- Will initiate and respond to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.
Little by little, he /she will increase his /her repertoire of specific situations:
- Use simple everyday polite forms of greeting and address;
- Greet people, ask how they are and react to news;
- Handle very short social exchanges; ask and answer questions about what they do at work and in free time;
- Make and respond to invitations;
- Discuss what to do, where to go and make arrangements to meet;
- Make and accept offers make simple transactions in shops, post offices or banks;
- Get simple information about travel;
- Use public transport: buses, trains, and taxis, ask for basic information, ask and give directions, and buy tickets;
- Ask for and provide everyday goods and services.
At the end of the course, the student will be practice:
- Initiate, maintain and close simple, restricted face-to-face conversation;
- Understand enough to manage simple, routine exchanges without undue effort;
- Make him/herself understood and exchange ideas and information on familiar topics in predictable everyday situations, provided the other person helps if necessary;
- Communicate successfully on basic themes if he/she can ask for help to express what he wants to;
- Deal with everyday situations with predictable content, though he/she will generally have to compromise the message and search for words;
- Interact with reasonable ease in structured situations, given some help.
- Sustain monologues such as express how he/she feels in simple terms; give an extended description of everyday aspects of his/her environment e.g. people, places, a job or study experience; describe past activities and personal experiences; describe habits and routines; describe plans and arrangements; explain what he/she likes or dislikes about something; give short, basic descriptions of events and activities; describe pets and possessions; use simple descriptive language to make brief statements about and compare objects and possessions.
Writing:
- Fill forms with personal details, for example entering name, nationality and address on a hotel registration form.
- Write simple postcards, for example, sending holiday greetings.
- Write short, simple notes and messages relating to matter in areas of immediate need.
- Write a very simple personal letter, for example thanking someone for something.
- Write simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of a personal interest.
- Write personal letters describing experiences and impressions.
Reading:
- Understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example on notices and posters or in catalogues.
- Read very short, simple text.
- Find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus, timetables…
- Understand short simple personal letters.
- Understand texts that consist of high frequency everyday of job-related language.
- Understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letter.
- Understand other type texts with grammatical structures and vocabulary related to A1 and A2 levels.
Listening:
- Recognise familiar words and very basic phrases concerning myself, my family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly.
- Understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g., very basic personal and family information, shopping, local area, employment).
- Catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.
- Understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
